This development has given a big fillip to the economy of Uttar Pradesh in many ways. In the last six months, the Yogi government has started to benefit from the enormous potential of the state, which was most certainly built during the previous term in office. Under the current CM of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath’s administration, radical change has been initiated in the area of infrastructure development. Some of the developments are listed below.
Expressways: Accelerating Development
The network of expressways in Uttar Pradesh is more than 1,225 kilometres long, which would mean not only smoother but also faster commutes. This would lead to the creation of industrial hubs alongside its corridors, leading whole-scale development of the state by enabling better movement across it.
The expressways not only act as a gateway to the economically backward regions like Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, etc but also ensure seamless connectivity with all critical geographies of Uttar Pradesh. Some of the prestigious projects from Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressways-project, Noida-Greater Noida, NH-24 by-pass, and Yamuna expressways are also airlines new development opportunities across the entire state.
It has planned residential and commercial zones, not just industrial ones. On the lines of Yogi Adityanath's vision, several big infrastructure projects such as Film City, Jewar Airport, Medical Device Park, Logistics Park, Fintech City, IT City, and Data Centre Park are in the pipeline along this axis.
Currently, construction is also underway for six new expressways, including the Gorakhpur Link Expressway and the Ganga Expressway, which will enhance both people and goods movement. These expressways are expected to be a vital part of the state’s journey toward development.
Enhancing Air Connectivity
Besides roadways, the Yogi government achievements also include planning to improve air connectivity inside the state. According to some reports, government plans are so ambitious that they have planets to have 18 airports, including five international ones.
In 2007, then-Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf visited Gaya's World Heritage Site city and in December last year, he also laid a foundation stone for the Patna International Airport terminal building, which was already functional. He laid the foundation stones for the construction of an eight-kilometre runway at Bihta Air Base, making it dual-purpose. The state government batted hard to make his visit successful with all the expected goodies.
Host nation India has three regional airports—Kushinagar has been operational while other Jewar international airports are under construction, generating a lot of interest globally—would keep one of the most important players enthralled with how Naveen chairholder Mukesh Ambani interacted.
The government is also planning to develop five more airports in Aligarh, Azamgarh, and Chitrakoot besides Myorpur (Sonbhadra) and Shravasti so that they meet requirements for handling larger aircraft, including the Airbus A-321. Enhanced air connectivity will not only help in easier passenger transportation but also assist cargo movements, benefiting the local farmers and a string of industrial units across the state.
Boosting Health Infrastructure
The government has emphasised the importance of health in Uttar Pradesh, encapsulated in the slogan ‘Healthy State, Happy State,’ introduced by Chief Minister Yogi. Over the last six months, numerous innovative initiatives have been implemented to improve health infrastructure and facilities. Recently, the government launched a health ATM in Gorakhpur, with plans to install these ATMs in 4,600 primary health centres throughout the state.
In addition to these initiatives, the government is operating medical colleges in 65 districts and has established AIIMS facilities in Gorakhpur and Raebareli. Furthermore, there are 22 medical colleges currently under construction. Uttar Pradesh has also excelled in managing COVID-19, administering more than 38 crore vaccine doses. Additionally, 6.51 crore residents have received Ayushman cards, providing them with health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh. Apart from boosting the state's health infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh governance has also improved a lot since Yogi Adityanath’s government came to power.
Film City: A New Creative Hub
The proposed Film City in Noida is set to become the largest and most beautiful film hub in India. This ambitious project, costing around Rs 10,000 crore and covering about 1,000 acres, aims to create numerous job opportunities and stimulate tourism in Uttar Pradesh. It is a beacon of hope for artists not just from the state but from all over North India.
The Film City will incorporate advanced technologies such as animation, OTT platforms, and gaming, connecting the youth of Uttar Pradesh with world-class job opportunities. A data centre will also be established within the Film City to facilitate both the pre-production and post-production processes of filmmaking.
Conclusion
In summary, the various development works initiated by the Yogi government are making a significant impact on the future of Uttar Pradesh. With advancements in infrastructure, air connectivity, healthcare, and creative industries, the prospects for the state and its residents look increasingly promising.
